Celtic bosses slam ‘sickening chants’ amid Old Firm row

Evening Times - - NEWS -

CELTIC have claimed their fans were targeted with “sickening chants” amid claims Rangers’ Alfredo Morelos was subjected to racist abuse during Sunday’s Old Firm.

The Ibrox side said on Monday the Colombian was targeted after being sent off by referee Kevin Clancy in the closing stages of their 2-1 victory.

Police are investigating those claims.

But Hoops chiefs have since claimed their support were targeted with missiles being thrown by the 800-strong Gers support, in addition to “other unsavoury incidents”.

They added: “However, as we always do, Celtic will deal with these and all other incidents responsibly and in a dignified and professional manner and in a way which protects the greater good of the game.”
