MONDAY’S front page on plans moving forward for a new Glasgow Metro continued to spark debate online. Here’s a selection from our website...
It’s about time we get trams back in Glasgow, it’s a good idea, which will help get people out of their cars.
Just take a good look at Blackpool, they are planning extending their tram system in Fleetwood and the new line to the railway station at the north of the town.
Edinburgh is extending their trams all the way to Newhaven. We don’t want Glasgow to miss out this time round.
The plans don’t go far enough. Glasgow needs an extended metropolitan subway system for the greater Glasgow area.
If Glasgow money is going to be used for the metro then it should link up to central Glasgow say close to the city centre.
Let’s see Glasgow/ Renfrewshire show Edinburgh how a tram project is meant to be done.
If planned correctly this could be an absolute winner.
Braehead, QEUH, and airport would be superb but planning has got to be of the upmost after watching the Edinburgh tram fiasco.
If we could link it into Glasgow Queen Strret and Central Stations this would be stunning. Then again lm 60 so l don’t think l will see it finished. John Davidson
Vancouver built a fantastic monorail for the Winter Olympics.
I’ve used it from the city to the airport.
It’s got tourists and commuters/locals on it and no one batted an eyelid when it stopped at the ‘local’ stations. Dave Smith
