AN £85mil­lion con­tract was won by a Glas­gow firm for work on two gi­ant air­craft car­ri­ers.

Henry Abram and Sons was to trans­port huge sections of the car­ri­ers be­ing built on the Clyde and around the UK to Rosyth.

At the time, the firm em­ployed 22 peo­ple in Glas­gow.

The deal was part of £333m worth of sub­con­tracts for HMS Queen El­iz­a­beth and HMS Prince of Wales.
