Glas­gow writer up for Os­car

A SCREEN­WRITER from Glas­gow has been nom­i­nated for an Os­car.

Krysty Wil­sonCairns is up for an Academy Award for best Orig­i­nal Screen­play for 1917, which she co-wrote with di­rec­tor Sam Men­des.

Krysty has also been nom­i­nated for Orig­i­nal Screen­play at the Writ­ers Guild Awards and 1917 is up for nine BAFTAs in­clud­ing Best Film.

She is a grad­u­ate of the city’s Royal Con­ser­va­toire of Scot­land, which con­grat­u­lated her on the ac­co­lade.

Pro­fes­sor Jef­frey Sharkey, Prin­ci­pal of the Royal Con­ser­va­toire of Scot­land, said: “Krysty shows that there’s a path from Glas­gow to Hol­ly­wood for tal­ented storytelle­rs.”
