Renewed plea over attack on OAP

- BY RUTH SUTER

A RENEWED plea for witnesses has been launched by police after a pensioner was attacked in broad daylight.

The 78- year- old woman was walking along Milngavie Road in Bearsden at around 8.40am on Sunday before she was approached by a man who threw her into the bushes and attempted to steal her bag.

The suspect fled the scene and headed towards Bearsden.

The victim did not require hospital treatment.

Police are renewing their appeal in a bid to track the culprit down.

He is described as a white male, approximately 6ft 2ins tall and of slim build. He was wearing a blue jacket, light- coloured trousers and a light- coloured cap at the time of the attack.

Detective Sergeant Scott McNulty, of Govan CID, said: “Officers have been conducting enquiries and we are particularly keen to speak to two people who we believe were in the area at the time of the incident – a man who was walking a small black dog on a red dog lead and a woman who was wearing dark clothing, walking a dark coloured sheepdog type of dog.”
