City set for drive- in panto... oh yes it is!

- BY LAUREN BROWNLIE

A DRIVE- IN pantomime will be performed live as part of a Christmas festival near Glasgow Airport this year.

Following sold- out events throughout the summer, the Parking Lot Social team have put together a programme of films, party shows and family events for this festive season – including their first pantomime.

Tickets are on sale now for the Winter Festival, taking place at the Skyport Glasgow Airport Parking from December 16 right up until Christmas Eve.

A new version of Cinderella will be performed live with song and dance routines and audience participation.

There won’t be a bad seat in the house as a crew will be filming the action and broadcasting the panto from the stage directly onto two massive 40foot screens.

Christmas movies for all ages will be also be shown, with DJs and MCs getting the audience in the mood beforehand as well as a family Christmas car- a- oke, an interactive quiz, three DJ silent discos and party bingo hosted by Santa Claus.

Those attending will be able to have their food orders delivered directly to their cars from food trucks selling gourmet burgers, loaded fries, wood- fired pizzas, hot dogs, hot chocolate, donuts, toasted nuts, gingerbread men and more.

And to top it off, each night, events finish with a festive firework finale.

John Kinnersley, chief operating officer at XL Event Lab, the company behind the events, said: “After the year we’ve had it really feels like everyone could do with a bit of festive cheer.

“We had an incredible response to the events that we put on in the summer and the question we got asked more than any was if we could do something for Christmas.

“We waited to hear what the new regulations would bring but we’re now able to confirm that Christmas officially isn’t cancelled.

“We know how to put on a drivein party more than anyone and the line- up of events that we’ve got planned are giving us that warm Christmassy glow already.”

Organisers say safety is at the heart of the event and audiences take part in the shows from their own cars making it a completely contactless event ensuring a safe and socially distant experience.

Strict cleaning and distancing rules in place for the winter events exceed new regulations.
