David is on song in his bid to claim £1000 prize

-

TODAY is the last day that we will be running our voting coupon for Times Talent.

Over the past few weeks, our editor has chosen the best of the best to showcase Glasgow’s most talented residents.

One of those is David Millar, 52, from Nitshill.

The singer has entered Times Talent for his go at winning the £1000 prize.

David, right, came to find his talent later on in life, after realising his potential

He said: “I’ve always been into singing, since I was a wee boy but I never took it seriously. It wasn’t until I was 32 and join a band with a few of my mates that I started to take it seriously.

“After the band I went solo, and I perform all over Glasgow when I’m able to.”

David’s passion is singing live, and he said that lockdown has been tough on him.

He said: “I loved doing karaoke, singing in bars and singing in loads of venues, most of the big ones I’ve performed in.

“It’s tough during lockdown now that all of that is gone.”

One way David has helped not only himself, but also other performers across the city, is by launching ‘Glasgow Going Live’, a Facebook group which showcases performers while in lockdown.

David said: “When you start performing in Glasgow, you get to know people and there were so many performers I knew that were badly hit.

“I decided to launch the Facebook page to help anyone who couldn’t perform in the way that they normally do.

“I think singers and musicians, are so connected and quick to help out other where they can.

“On the page we have even have some people who have entered Times Talent feature, like Marcedes Spalding.”

As lockdown begins to open up, David is looking forward to the future, with some dates in the diary already set.

He said: “I already have a few bookings for things like silver anniversary parties so I’m looking forward to being able to book more things soon.”
