Here’s what the candidates say...

- JAMES DORNAN, SNP

“I’ve represented Glasgow Cathcart since 2011. During that time, my office has worked tirelessly to solve issues for thousands of constituents.

“I’ve been heavily involved with local charities, arranging hundreds of Christmas gifts and donations every year.

“But the main reason you should vote for me is that with my party, the SNP, you are giving everyone in Scotland the chance of a better future and the opportunity to run our own affairs with an independence referendum.

“That’s why on May 6 you should make it #BothVotesSNP.”

CRAIG CARSON, LABOUR

“All communities within Glasgow Cathcart need a more visible and vocal MSP.

“We have had a year like no other and our recovery from the pandemic needs an MSP who is willing to stand up and fight for you.

“I know I can be your strong, local voice. Both votes Scottish Labour would ensure our recovery is what we focus on, not the old arguments and divisions of the past.”

EUAN BLOCKLEY, SCOTTISH CONSERVATIVES

“For the past 14 years, the SNP have solely focused on their constitutional obsessions while standards in our schools continue to fall.

“If you want the next parliament to be focused on education rather than separation then you must vote Scottish Conservative on your peach ballot paper in May. Let’s send the SNP a message they cannot ignore.”

JOE MCCAULEY, SCOTTISH LIBDEMS

“I am no career politician. I know, feel, and understand the real issues that affect the people of Cathcart and I am determined to bring real change to them and their community.

“People want a change from division and damaging politics of the SNP.

“It is time to put recovery first by creating jobs for young people, ending mental health injustice, making our education the best again and tackling the climate crisis.

“Vote for me, and I promise to bring communities together.”
