Police cordon set up after assault claim

A SOUTH side street was cordoned off by police last night after reports of an assault.

Police set up a cordon around properties on

Aikenhead Road, running to Govanhill Street, with a nearby close also included.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.35pm on

Friday, June 18, officers were called to Aikenhead Road in Glasgow, following a report of an assault.

“A 51-year-old man

has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

“He is expected to appear in court on Monday, June 21.”
