Glasgow rapper releases song to commemorate friend who died

-

A GLASGOW rapper is releasing a song following the death of his best friend who tragically died at the age of 21.

Andrew Jamieson, who is also known by his alter ego SubKonsious (Subz), will be releasing his new song Blessings in honour of the late musician and fellow rapper Calum “Lumo” Barnes.

Calum, who sadly died in 2017, gained fame through his band Deadsoundz Inc, which Andrew was also a member of. He was well known in the hip-hop community and his passing devastated many.

Andrew, 37, who struggled with depression after the death of his friend, was inspired to write a song that reflected what he was feeling at that time.

He said: “The lyrics were written when I was trying to get over losing my friend Calum. The lyrics are a take on dealing with past relationships that kept me in dark places whilst dealing with the loss of someone close to you and how that experience can change a person forever.”

After nearly quitting music, the rapper says that music has provided an outlet for him to express himself.

He said: “Live life knowing that there’s a light in any bad situation. I battled a lot for years with my mental health, and music has been the one thing that consistently helps me find a release. Don’t be afraid to do what you love.”

The hip-hop artist says he is a lot more positive about life today and will be doing “his bit” to raise awareness on mental health.

The release date for the video will be July 2 and to find out more visit youtube.com/c/ OfficialSubKonsious.
