TWO YEARS PAST

-

A GLASGOW MSP launched a bid to block private firms accessing drivers’ personal details to enforce fines in car parks.

Firms that issued fines in car parks – for example supermarkets and shopping centres – can’t enforce the fine unless they prove the registered keeper of the car was driving at the time.

Pauline McNeill, Glasgow Labour MSP, wanted to stop the private companies getting their hands on the data. Instead she wanted only local authorities to be able to enforce parking penalties.
