Headland from Edenthorpe near Doncaster, asked about these two genial gentlemen who hosted radio programmes on Sunday afternoons and weekdays. They served popular music very well and deserve to be remembered.

Born in South Africa, Alan Dell ( 1924- 1995) ( above left) was an expert on British dance bands and several singers while jovial Benny Green ( 1927- 1998), was born in Leeds but brought up in London. A saxophonist and prolific writer, he was an expert on almost everything musical, especially jazz.

Happy 90th birthday to Trevor Hill, seen here with his wife, Margaret Potter, discussing his latest Cameo Cartoon, The Operatic Cat, broadcast on Children’s Hour in September 1950.
