Bring the noise

I really enjoyed the recent article on rally cars with the GR Yaris etc (evo 282). Rallying is my thing. I love going to rallies whether here or abroad, current or historic (as long as ragged). I can’t get enough of the experience – the fans, the sights, the noise… especially when that noise is reverberating in the depths of a forest.

On the subject of engine noise, recently I was lucky enough to borrow a virtually new Aston Martin DBS for two days. I basically spent two days going on and off the gas continually, as the crackles and pops from the exhaust were out of this world. Yep, childish I know, but I haven’t had so much fun doing that since I had a twodoor Impreza Colin Mcrae 555 special edition (wish I’d kept it!).

My main run-around is a Tesla, but I’ll never give up on a petrol-engined ‘toy’ for just going for a drive or for road trips; I could never give up on that ‘proper car’ entertainment. The Tesla is for A-to-b only – I’m enjoying internal combustion while we still can.
