AND FINALLY...

The news you might have missed this month

-

WHO DOESN’T LIKE THE IDEA OF A 21ST century Group A Sierra Cosworth RS500 with input from Mr Touring Cars himself, Andy Rouse? Exactly. Thankfully CNC Motorsport

(1) is on the same page, sourcing three original bodyshells on which it will work with Rouse to build a trio of race cars eligible for the likes of the Silverstone Classic and Motor Racing Legends.

Each car will be powered by a 575bhp, 2-litre YB Ford engine, as per the originals, mated to a fivespeed Getrag gearbox. Prices start at £185,000.

Tempted by the new C8 Corvette but want a little more go? Step forward the Z06 (2). With a handbuilt, dry-sumped 670bhp LT5 V8 engine that features a flat-plane crank, forged pistons and titanium con rods, the Z06 is set to be Chevrolet’s answer to Lamborghini’s Huracán STO and will be available as a coupe or roadster.

Corvette has yet to release a price or confirm if it will also be available in right-hand drive as per regular C8s (we doubt it, due to the cost of getting the engine through European emission regs), but there’s always the personal import route.

One of the worst-kept automotive secrets is finally out with Porsche confirming it will build a Cayman GT4 RS (3) for the first time. To mark the announcement, the GT department headed for the Nürburgring Nordschleife to post a 7:04.05 lap time. The official reveal takes place at the Los Angeles motor show later this month.

As we closed for press, Mclaren confirmed that its CEO, Mike Flewitt (4), is to stand down from the company after eight years in the role.

Flewitt has overseen the growth of Mclaren Automotive from a single-model car company to one offering everything from the 540C to the LT family, plus Senna and Speedtail specials. The much-delayed Artura has also been on his watch, however. Michael Macht, a non-executive director of Mclaren and former Porsche CEO, will share Flewitt’s responsibilities with Mclaren Group CEO Paul Walsh while a replacement is recruited.
