Sign of the times

I read with interest your article on the Talbot Horizon Lotus (DOA, evo 291). I live not half a mile from the site of the mentioned Talbot factory in Scotland, and the car-loving residents of Paisley, Linwood and the surrounding area are still proud of this history.

There remains a reminder of this history on the railway bridge that passes by the site of the factory, advertising the ‘Talbot Linwood Plant’ as the ‘Home of the Avenger & Sunbeam’ [above]. The wording is very faded these days and there was a campaign a few years ago to have it restored, but unfortunately there was not much wind in the sails. It’s a great shame that this automotive landmark could soon be lost for good. Mark Logan
