Mazda MX-5 in Iceland

‘I’ve been very lucky to work with Mazda on its Epic Drives campaigns – this one was for the MX-5 in Iceland. I love the bleak emptiness of Iceland and this undulating dirt road shows it so well. The whole country is heaving with great locations and I’d happily go there again.’

‘This was shot in the “Graffiti Tunnel” in Waterloo, London, for BMW Car magazine in 2013. It wasn’t a particularly safe place to hang out, and was often used as a toilet, so you had to watch where you stood! It was worth the effort, though. Unfortunately shooting in cities is becoming harder and harder because of excessive red tape.’

‘I often think that car photography is landscape photography with a car in it, even for action stuff. This Mégane RS was shot for evo on its launch in Spain. We headed for the mountain roads near Ubrique and chose this corner because I was drawn to the shape of the mountains behind.’

‘Andy Morgan and I were at Spa in June 2016 shooting a GT-R event for Nissan. We were hiding from the torrential rain showers in the marshal’s box at Raidillon, capturing journalists driving past, and having a competition to see who could get the car sharp at the slowest shutter speed.’
