‘Having had a remote camera destroyed by a disintegrating drag racer, I realise that no shot is worth risking your life or safety for. So at the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Complex in California for a Lucas Oil Off Road Race Series event in 2009, I buried another remote camera in the dirt at the edge of the track to capture this fusillade of mud and stones from Greg Adler’s Unlimited 2 truck.’

Funny Car explosion (above)

‘This was from another remote camera set-up – one that gave me some particularly insane photos. It was in 2018, during the Arizona Nationals at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park, where NHRA Funny Car driver John Force suffered a horrendous engine explosion that blew the body clean off his car. The resulting debris would knock my camera over, but both it and John Force would be OK!’

‘This shot is from 2013 and shows the incredible crash suffered by Pro Modified driver Tim Tindle in the 2013 US Nationals at Clermont, Indiana. He went airborne over the wall in his supercharged Chevrolet Camaro and into the grass, where he would ride out a vicious series of flips. Incredibly, Tindle exited the car under his own power and would fully recover from the accident.’
