HM Bark Endeavour, a full-scale replica of Captain James Cook’s famous ship, has just arrived in Whitby, where it has opened as a permanent visitor attraction. Innovative graphic design, lighting and interactive features transport visitors back in time to life aboard the 18th-century ship and all the hardships endured by Cook’s crew, from scurvy to sheer boredom. The Experience covers the expedition’s scientific discoveries. The opening coincides with the 250th anniversary celebrations (Cook250 Festival) of Captain Cook’s first expedition to the Pacific in the original Endeavour, which was built in Whitby in 1764. » hmbarkendeavour.co.uk
