As my motivated kids tell me, ‘Mum, a goal without a plan is just a dream’, and this seems an apt sentiment for this issue – and David Annal’s extremely useful and insightful article on the importance of creating a good family history research strategy, as bit by bit David explains how to sort out even the knottiest of family history problems. Plus we include some practical research steps to create your own family history research plan, and so, in the process, turn your dream of smashing through your family history brickwalls into a goal you can steadily work towards.

I love the end of one year, and start of the new, and all the good things we can choose to look forward, and this year at Family Tree we have exciting projects lined up for future issues, plus our growing programme of excellent webinars, and the Family Tree Study Club which we’ll be running online, once a month, to help make those dark winter nights something to enjoy.
