New picture archive celebrates what unites us

A new online picture archive tool has been launched with the aim of capturing memories, particularly of community events impacted by lockdown

Broadcaster, author and historian Professor Kate Williams is the ambassador for Memorylane.co.uk, which offers access to images from national and local picture archives showing how communities have celebrated events including Remembrance Sunday, royal weddings and anniversaries, VE Day and elections.

Anyone who registers at the site can enjoy free access to an archive of millions of photos that go back as far as 1878. You can search by location and also add your own images for future generations to explore.
