Inspired by the author’s own family history, Dublin’s Girl tells the story of 17-year-old Veronica Mcdermott who leaves the family farm for the excitement of an office job in Dublin. Here she is recruited from secretarial college for a typing job with Sinn Féin, fighting for Ireland’s independence from the British as World War I draws to a close. When Veronica is tasked with gaining information from a young British soldier it isn’t long before her growing feelings for the soldier conflict with her loyalty to her employers.
