Stereoscopy: The Dawn of 3-D
Centred around the life of one man, Ernest Pridmore, we see his life unfold from childhood: his poverty stricken parents, who drowned their sorrows in the pub; his younger siblings forcibly taken to the workhouse; his own narrow escape from the same fate – thanks to the generousheartedness of other family members. We learn of his determination to better himself and his family, with a focus and sense of honour that would lead to him being awarded the George Medal during World War 2. It’s a life story set against and immersed in the Docklands area of London in the latter decades of the 1800s up to the mid-20th century.
Rich in social history, it’s an absorbing read regardless of whether you have ancesors from the area.
