The unique, new story-telling feature from Ancestry provides you with an easy and enjoyable way to write digital stories, with imagery and text, to share with your friends and family via email and social media

Ancestry Stories makes the long-cherished dream of many family historians – to tell their stories and share them with family and friends – extremely easy to accomplish. With Ancestry Stories you are the writer, creator and publisher of your own family stories. All you need is the Ancestry app to get started. The choice of which of your family stories to tell is entirely up to you. Perhaps you would like to create an Ancestry Story to:

• commemorate an important date in your family’s story

• celebrate a milestone birthday

• remember your family’s military history

• share memories and anecdotes with the children in your family

• collate a collection of family weddings stories

• memorialise the final resting places of loved ones

• to create mini digital family recipe books. Fortunately there is no limit to the number of stories you can tell, so you don’t have to choose. Available now on IOS; coming soon to Android.

Step 5: Choose to pan across (or up and down) the image, to give a sense of movement and bring the story to life. Click the ‘T’ to include a caption. Use the arrow to place the caption at the top or bottom of the page.

Step 2: Simply decide who your story will feature. Use the filter to view different categories of ancestor to choose from.

Step 3: Select the ‘drop’ icon at the bottom of the window above to edit your theme colours.

Step 6: When you’re ready, click Publish. Your Ancestry Story will remain pinned to the profile of the person that the story is about in your Ancestry family tree. Step 4: To add further pages to your story, use the + . Accompany each one with an image (a photo, document, map etc). Images can be imported from your Ancestry records. You can paste or type text. This is your story, told your way. Remember to add a Title page.
