A Penny For A Brick

-

by Christine A. Dyos

Built as a Victorian Mission in Kentish Town, London, Lyndhurst Hall provided a vital community resource for a century. Following its decline in the late 20th century it was demolished in 2006 to make way for a new block of flats. Christine Dyos’s father was employed as caretaker of the hall 1964-1986 and the family lived on the premises. To remember the place her family once loved and called home, the author has researched the history of the hall in great detail providing maps and plans, timetables of weekly activities, photographs of events, presentations, and outings. The book is also packed with names: from wartime rolls of honour, to names mentioned in extracts of minutes, committee members, volunteers and leaders of clubs etc.
