HOW TO GET SCANNING

➊ To add a photo or photos to an individual person, go to their gallery on your Ancestry family tree.

➋ Scroll down to the bottom of the gallery, and select ‘Add media’. A pop-up window will appear. Choose ‘Scan’ and point your device at the image or images that you wish to scan and hold the button for three seconds.

➌ The image or images are scanned and automatically cropped and added to your gallery. The process literally takes a matter of seconds – to scan, straighten and enhance the image, sharpening and removing scanning errors (obvious glare and diminishing reflections if scanning images behind glass for instance). Select your recently scanned image, and use the ‘i’ icon at the bottom of the screen to add details.

➍ The details you may wish to add include a title and writing a comment about the image that will caption it.

TIP! To ensure your scans are as perfect as possible try and scan your photos in natural light and hold your device as still as you can
