Name: Mag­dalena Lives: Tan­za­nia WHEN Mag­dalena was born, her mother no­ticed that some­thing was wrong with her eyes.

As well as other health com­pli­ca­tions, she had cataracts in both of her eyes. Mag­dalena had surgery to help re­store her sight. Af­ter­wards, her mother said: “When she had her ban­dages re­moved and I knew she could see me I was happy, very happy. She was ex­cited as well.”

Sight­savers, sup­ported by the UK Gov­ern­ment, has launched a fi­nal push to­wards pro­vid­ing a mil­lion cataract op­er­a­tions. The Mil­lion Mir­a­cles UK Aid Match ap­peal sup­ports projects in Pak­istan, Bangladesh and else­where.
