A British university student, who was sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty of spying in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has been pardoned. A court believed 31-yearold Matthew Hedges was spying for the UK Government, but he has denied the charge and said he was just doing research. The UK’s Foreign Secretary, Jeremy Hunt, said the pardon was “fantastic news”.
