‘Encore’ from French as Label Rouge boosts sales
AYEAR on from the award of the prestigious Label Rouge quality mark to Scottish salmon, total industry sales continue to rise with an impressive 50 per cent increase in volume during the first half of 1993 over the same period last year.
For Marine Harvest, the sales results have been just as impressive. Raymond Scouarnec, Marine Harvest’s Sales Manager in France, said: ‘Buyers are recognising the quality of Label Rouge Scottish salmon and orders continue to increase.’
A series of promotions, organised by Marine Harvest and the Scottish Salmon Board, are maintaining strong awareness in the market place.
Co-ordinating with Raymond Scouarnec and Su Wood, the Paris and Boulogne-based wholesaler, Demarne – which supplies restaurants and the retail trade – launched a national competition to promote Scottish salmon to all their customers.
Competition prizes included a weekend for two in Scotland and hundreds of gifts distributed to participants.
Label Rouge is recognised by 78 per cent of French customers, and is the guarantee of superior quality Scottish salmon.
