Show time for Marine Harvest after 30-year hiatus

“Marine Harvest’s presence at such an important event is an encouraging step in the industry’s engagement with the public”

-

THIS year’s Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh saw the welcome return of Marine Harvest to Scotland’s largest agricultural event for the first time in thirty years. Situated in the Food Hall, the MH stand – which displayed some of the company’s fresh salmon, as well as its various value-added salmon products – was well-manned by Marine Harvest staff. The company also sponsored salmon-cooking demonstrations by chef Roy Brett. The Harbour Salmon Co – also part of Marine Harvest – was also represented at the show, selling its enormously popular range of products.

Seen in a wider context, Marine Harvest’s presence at such an important event is an encouraging step in the industry’s engagement with the public, which is vital if it is to effectively dispel many of the myths about the industry that are regularly churned out by the press, as well as to debate the real issues affecting global salmon farming, and to explain how the industry is working together to combat them.
