Another award for Scots firm

SCOTTISH seafood exporting firm FAO27 has won another award, being named Outstanding Performing Small Business 2015 at the recent Highland Business Awards.

The company, based in the Black Isle and in France, operates as the sales export department for a number of local small scale seafood processors and fishing boats and sells whitefish, shellfish and farmed salmon from the north of Scotland to retailers, wholesalers, large fishmongers and independent stores in France, Italy, Belgium, Portugal and Luxembourg.

FAO27, called after the grid reference for the North Sea fishing sector and standing for Freshness and Origin, was set up in 2009 by Anne Moseley as a consultancy to help fishermen and processors export to Europe. It now has five members of staff.

Last year FAO27 won the award for top export company at the Food and Drink Federation Awards and was also named Export Business of the Year at the Scotland Food and Drink Excellence Awards.

The awards were organised by the Inverness Chamber of Commerce to recognise the achievements of business in the Highlands and Islands.
