Tammy scoops Young Shining Star Award

Tammy Rendall, technical manager at Associated Seafoods in Buckie, won the Young Shining Star Award at the Highlands & Islands Food & Drink Awards 2015 in Inverness last month.

The award recognises a young person’s outstandin­g contributi­on and achievemen­t in the Highlands & Islands food and drink sector. Orkney Fishermen’s Society’ Sinclair Bain was joint winner.

Tammy, 20, who joined Associated Seafoods (ASL) in July 2013, won because of her outstandin­g achievemen­ts in setting up a new highcare crab processing department. She has also developed and implemente­d procedures and policies to enable ASL to secure prestigiou­s BRC certificat­ion.

ASL was also highly commended in the Export Award category. Other seafood companies recognised on the night included Seafood Shetland Lerwick and Loch Fyne Oysters. w
