Tammy scoops Young Shining Star Award
Tammy Rendall, technical manager at Associated Seafoods in Buckie, won the Young Shining Star Award at the Highlands & Islands Food & Drink Awards 2015 in Inverness last month.
The award recognises a young person’s outstanding contribution and achievement in the Highlands & Islands food and drink sector. Orkney Fishermen’s Society’ Sinclair Bain was joint winner.
Tammy, 20, who joined Associated Seafoods (ASL) in July 2013, won because of her outstanding achievements in setting up a new highcare crab processing department. She has also developed and implemented procedures and policies to enable ASL to secure prestigious BRC certification.
ASL was also highly commended in the Export Award category. Other seafood companies recognised on the night included Seafood Shetland Lerwick and Loch Fyne Oysters. w
