SkaMik AS offers new and pioneering technology for mechanical delousing of salmon, the SkaMik Avluser.
Geir Skarstad and Frode Mikalsen established SkaMik AS in 2009.Their goal was to develop solutions for the enhancement of sustainability and production growth.
In close collaboration with farm owners, the Environment Service AS and Norwegian delouser, was created. It is an innovative, chemical-free method for the removal, collection and destruction of lice.
Now SkaMik AS is owned by the Environment Service AS, Norwegian Fish Transport AS, Moen Marin Group AS, Geir Skarstad and Frode Mikalsen.
In 2014, a total of 56,000 tonnes (some 17 removal on board the well boat Rune Viking. The full-scale tests were conducted in close responsible farmers to safeguard both animal welfare and HSE requirements.
The solution represents a breakthrough for sea lice removal. Numerous full-scale tests have demonstrated that the technology kills up to 90 per cent of all lice with no ulcerations,
SkaMik Avluser is a modular system with installations, and can be combined with other operations, including sorting and splitting.
The absence of pesticides has obvious ben and the company, and reduces the spread of lice and pesticide resistance.
