AFTER the launch of its first dedicated fish feed plant in Andhra Pradesh in January, Cargill opened its technology application centre at Kaikaluru in the state last month.

The centre is designed to help aquaculture farmers access new innovations.

It covers 3.6 hectares of land that hosts 20 fish and shrimp ponds and features a training facility and research station.

By mid-2018, the company will open new technology application centres for aquaculture in four countries, including Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and India.

‘India is an important and fast growing aquaculture market,’ said Chad Gauger, managing director of Cargill’s aquaculture nutrition business in South Asia.
