Happy Christmas

Our Christmas issue this year goes to press on the eve of the general election, with the uncertainties of Brexit still hanging over the country - and the seafood industry.

This has been a recurring theme of 2019 in our sector, as in other businesses, and we must hope that the New Year brings some resolution. We talk to those at the forefront of Brexit preparations, in transport and logistics, and find out what progress has been made.

But fish farmers have had plenty of challenges away from Europe, and these will be best addressed by good science and innovation. We hear about the latest fish health research, presented at the recent Pharmaqademy in Inverness, and discover exciting new solutions being piloted by Fort William based company Northern Light.
