Ace Aquatec tackling sea lice

Scottish technology innovator Ace Aquatec is developing a more sustainable approach to sea lice removal.

The company’s sea lice removal system uses multiple different methods within a single containerised unit. This multi-technique approach minimises the risk of lice developing resistance over time; something that can happen with solutions relying primarily on a single removal technique.

With gentle fish handling at the heart of the design, their system includes unique elements designed to minimise fish stress. Also, its easy integration with existing vessels is expected to improve reaction times to lice outbreaks as farms can add the technology to multiple vessels across their regions.

A working prototype has been manufactured and will be tested by their farming partner soon.
