A team at Duke has de­vised a way to de­tect ‘au­tol­o­gous’ blood trans­fu­sions, used by some ath­letes to boost the oxy­gen-car­ry­ing ca­pac­ity of blood. Duke’s method analy­ses RNA – com­plex acids in­volved in car­ry­ing ge­netic data from DNA.
