NOTTINGHAM ROAR

A mysterious noise, apparently emanating from the sky and described as a “roaring” or “whooshing” sound, puzzled residents throughout Nottingham every few minutes during the night and early morning hours on 27 and 28 May. Hayley Compton said it sounded like a giant blowtorch. Popular explanations included UFOs and noises generated by industrial machines at nearby factories, though none had been identified.
