On 30 Novem­ber, staff and stu­dents at the Chi­nese Cul­ture Univer­sity in Taipei, Tai­wan, ob­served a rain­bow for eight hours and 58 min­utes – from 6.57am to 3.55pm. This broke the pre­vi­ous record of six hours (9am to 3pm) on 14 Au­gust 1994, seen in Sh­effield, York­shire. Times, 7 Dec 2017.
