France - - Contents -

Adam has been exploring France for half a century, as a tourist, resident (Paris and Poitiers) and contributor to travel pages and guide books (Which? and the AA). In 2012, Short Books published France on Two Wheels, Adam’s ‘narrative guide’ to six routes across the country for long-distance leisure cyclists. On page 52, Adam plays the Ryder Cup golf course near Paris- Le Golf National. “Of all the mountains of France, my favourite is made of sand, the Dune du Pilat, a golden monster rising at the mouth of the Bassin d’arcachon. I first went up it with a friend by moonlight; we had it to ourselves - the effect was magical. Running down to the sea on a summer’s day isn’t bad either.”
