Ivy and I have recently returned from our fifth stay in five different towns on each side of the Vosges Massif, in what used to be Alsace and Lorraine. We enjoy walking along the marked paths through the forests and along the heights, and we want to congratulate the Club Vosgien for their work in waymarking the trails so effectively. It was a delight to follow their impeccable signage.
Incidentally, Gérardmer in Vosges apparently has few English visitors. This is a pity as it is a delightful town in which to have a relaxing or energetic holiday. David Sharpe, Cockermouth, Cumbria
