Liberté, egalité, cuppa thé! Shoppers go mad for Macron merchandise

French Property News - - News -

Fancy a mug with Macron’s mug on it for your French home? The Elysée palace has launched an online boutique where you can buy presidential merchandise and souvenirs. The e-shop was launched during the European Heritage Days when the presidential palace in Paris opened its doors to the public and organised a pop-up shop selling the new items. The products are all made by French brands but 12% of sales go to the Elysée and will be used to fund renovation work at the palace. Memorabilia on sale includes jewellery and tricolore macarons as well as T-shirts and jumpers marked with some of the president’s iconic moments such as when he punched the air in triumph at France’s World Cup win. Controversially, the ‘goodies’ don’t come cheap; T-shirts are €55, a watch will set you back €169, a gold-filled bracelet spelling ‘ liberté’ costs €250 and you will need €25 if you want a mug carrying Macron’s official portrait to add to your French kitchen crockery collection. Your morning cuppa will never taste as patriotique! Three days after the online shop opened, officials said €350,000 of memorabilia had already been sold. boutique.elysee.fr
