For sale: The best views on the Riviera
An historic property with one of the finest views on the Côte d’azur is on the market for €8.5m. The group of villas is situated on Mont Boron, a hilly area of parkland dotted with exclusive and luxurious mansions high above Nice, offering incredible views of the Baie des Anges.
The panorama alone is jaw-dropping but the property itself is just as impressive. It was first built in 1870 by an Italian entrepreneur, then sold 20 years later to British merchant Achille Larrey, who renamed it Beau Site. He hired the services of local architect Sebastian-marcel Biasini who enlarged and refurbished the property, giving it an impressive Victorian and Neo-pompeian architecture. Three separate villas were added to the property: Villa Hyacinthe, Villa les Roches and finally Villa Isba which Madame Larrey used for herself.
Gisèle Tissier, a renowned artist, poet and harpist then bought Beau Site in 1948. She allegedly needed 10 trucks to move all her belongings from Paris, which included 18 harps and three pianos! She spent the rest of life there writing pieces of music and turning Beau Site into an artistic sanctuary of opulence, music and style.
The property is now listed as a Monument Historique and is in need of renovation. For €8.5m, the new owner will have to roll up their sleeves but hopefully the stunning views of the Mediterranean will be rewarding enough! savills.co.uk
