Friday the 13th: The Game
Gun Media - 2017
‘Friday the 13th: The Game’ is a third-person survival horror based on the original movie of the same name. Set in the 1980s, the game centres around Camp Crystal Lake and the surrounding areas. The game is multiplayer based and features rounds in which up to eight players can play at once. Seven of the players take on the role of camp councillors while one lucky player gets to play the iconic hockey mask-wearing, Jason Voorhees.
As one of the councillors, your main goal is to survive by any means possible. This may involve fixing up a car to escape, trying to find a way to contact the police for help or banding together with other councillors in a bid to take on Jason himself.
Playing as Jason, which is by far the most fun, your job is simple, kill everyone! As you progress as Jason and rack up the kills, you’ll get to level up allowing the purchase of new ways to kill your prey. This will often lead to new and rather amusing encounters.
There are several maps included with the game, each with their own unique features. For those of you who aren’t into the whole multiplayer vibe, there is an offline mode in which you can play as Jason and kill computer AI councillors. It’s actually worth trying out the offline mode as it’s a great way of getting to grips with Jason’s murderous ways before taking on real players online. An absolute slaughter-fest that’s great fun to play with a bunch of mates and even more so when you get to take on the role of the main man himself. Also available in an Ultimate Slasher edition that features DLC, a poster and an authentic replica of the iconic hockey mask.
