It may have the most awkward name in console history, but the Xbox Series X is now officially the most powerful console ever created. With its minimal PC like design the console is nothing short of impressive for its size and price tag. Truth is you’ll be hard pushed to find a PC for the same budget price that can match the smooth 4K gaming at 60fps that the Series X delivers. While capable of up to 120fps the system also allows for ray tracing, an advanced light rendering technique that gives incredibly realistic lighting and an overall boost to graphics performance. Sound wise the console features 3D Audio which lets you pinpoint and hear sounds like never before and the console even doubles up as a powerful multi-media hub with a 4K Blu-ray player and apps for all major streaming services.

Another nice and innovative feature is the ‘quick resume’ function that lets you switch between different running games instantly and long loading times are a thing of the past thanks to the console’s solid state drive.

In the controller department things are a little disappointing as its essentially the same controller that came bundled with the previous Xbox bar a new grip and the ability to charge through USB-C cables. It is good however that you can still use your old Xbox One controllers with the new Series X console.

It is still early days for the Series X but its good value especially if you purchase ‘Game Pass’ and thumbs up to Microsoft going to major lengths to ensure all previous games and accessories are backward compatible.
