Once we’ve turned the clocks back (2am, 28 October), the days will be getting shorter heralding the onset of winter. An early spell of cold frosty weather is possible, especially in northern areas, but November tends to bring Atlantic storms with gales and lashings of rain, so take the opportunity on calm days to get the garden ready for winter.
