Check for grey mould

-

Don’t forget to keep an eye out for attacks of pests and diseases such as grey mould on plants under cover. ✿ What is grey mould? Grey furry mould, caused by the fungus Botrytis cinerea. It loves the damp environment and low light levels of a greenhouse or cold frame at this time of year. It attacks leaves and flowers, causing them to wither and die. ✿ How do you prevent it? Ventilate the greenhouse on mild days to reduce humidity; keep watering to a minimum and stand pots in trays of water for a few minutes then allow them to drain. Don’t overcrowd plants and dispose of dying foliage or flowers quickly.
