Q Which are the best tulips for growing in pots?
SUSAN JONES, MIDDLESBROUGH
A All tulips can be planted in pots and will flower well the first year after planting. However, if the pots are shaded by a building, it tends to encourage taller growth than usual, so here it’s best to plant shorter kinds such as early-flowering T. kaufmanniana (above), T. greigii, with attractively striped leaves, and early single tulips such as Darwin and Triumph hybrids.
