2. PUT IT IN THE RIGHT PLACE
Blue tits and great tits like boxes 2-5m (6-15ft) above the ground. House sparrow and starling boxes should ideally be under the house eaves. For all these species, make sure the box is out of reach of enterprising cats. In contrast, robin and wren boxes should be tucked out of sight behind dense climbers; if you can see the box, so can a predator, so see how well you can hide it. Place boxes so they face between north and east – it gives the birds and their broods protection from both strong sunshine and the prevailing wind.
