Q I’ve had a fir tree removed. How do I get rid of the roots that remain?

- IRENE MOIR, BY EMAIL

AThe only way to remove them is to dig them out. A tree surgeon can remove the stump for about £50-£200 depending on where you live. Or, hire a stump grinder and do it yourself, for about £75-£80.
