Grow fruit in a shady spot

Most fruit prefers a sunny position but this shady, sheltered spot suits Japanese quince, Chaenomeles cathayensis, with pretty pink-flushed white flowers in spring and aromatic yellow-green edible autumn fruit. Also try redcurrant ‘Stanza’; whitecurrant ‘Blanka’; blackcurrant ‘Ben Hope’; gooseberry ‘Greenfinch’; and rhubarb ‘Timperley Early’.
